CNN has failed to update their results for over an hour and still have results pending for crucial states such as Florida, which has already been claimed by Trump. CNN, however, is investing time in projecting live results on the Empire State Building.
Furthermore, they are currently reporting Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump to have 216 electoral votes and his opponent for the Democratic party Hillary Clinton to have 209. In contrast, Sky News is reporting 245 votes for Trump and 209 for Clinton. To add another outlet to the mix, BBC News is reporting 228 for Trump and 209 for Clinton.
It can be confusing for viewers to maintain a focus on the current situation, if different outlets are producing different results.
It goes without saying that the intense process of the US Election needs to be covered to accurately, with millions of people around the world relying on this information to keep them updated. It is suggested that the BBC results are delayed as they depend on confirmation of results, rather than depending solely on American media outlets.
