USA VOTES 2016

The latest news & results from the 2016 US election campaign

Trump set for shock win?

Donald Trump is currently on course for a shock victory as he leads with 245 votes to 209, needing only 25 more seats to become the 45th President of the United States.

Clinton has been the favourite throughout the campaign, but it appears the underdog is set to steal a massive march and achieve an unlikely victory as he has now won three of the five major swing states.

Trump has won Ohio, North Carolina and Florida, claiming a whopping 62 votes between the three.

The win in Ohio was one of real significance as there has never been a Republican president without claiming the state.

While this was a major win, the real turning point in this election has surely been the beating Clinton to claim Florida. This was a state which was thought to be going the way of the Democratic candidate tonight. However, the votes coming in from South Eastern state has handed Trump a significant boost for him and dealt Clinton a massive blow in the race for the Presidency.

Trump has been portrayed as the underdog and Clinton the clear favourite, but with Trump’s surprising gains in the swing states which were must wins for him, it appears the tables have turned and that there potentially may be a longer wait for the first female President of the United States.
