There is a potential shock on the cards in Virginia as Donald Trump leads the vote in Virginia, with over three-quarters of the vote now projected.
Hillary Clinton was predicted to win the state in the lead up to the election.
However, Trump’s lead may be cut as more of the vote comes in. It’s thought that the more rural Republican districts are quicker to count their votes and therefore when the full vote for the state is counted Clinton should just edge it.
Virginia was reliably Republican for around 50 years up to 2004. Barack Obama took the state in 2008 and held it in 2012, putting Clinton as a strong favourite.
Clinton has been gaining on Trump in the past few minutes and we should expect her to take the state by the end of the night.
