Donald Trump has won Ohio state with 18 electoral votes, 6.6% of the 270 electoral votes needed to win the election.
The North Eastern state has only supported the losing candidate once since the Second World War, meaning it is normally a good indicator as to the outcome of the election.
Historically, Ohio has supported Republican candidates for President more often than Democratic candidates – however Ohio has favoured Democrats and Republicans equally between 2000 and 2012, with George W. Bush and Barack Obama respectively.
