Trump takes Iowa state

Donald Trump has won Iowa state with six electoral votes, 2.2% of the 270 electoral votes needed to win the election. With 84% of the votes cast Trump won with 52.4%.

Between 1900 and 2012, Iowa has cast votes for the winning presidential candidate over 75 percent of the time, traditionally supporting Republican candidates more often than Democratic candidates. In more recent years, Iowa has leaned Democratic, yet still proves to be a key battleground state.
