USA VOTES 2016

The latest news & results from the 2016 US election campaign

November 9, 2016 By Luke Hastings Leave a Comment

Republicans projected to retain House of Representatives

Projections show the Republicans are going to retain the House of Representatives.

After enjoying a majority in the House since 2011, the Republicans are now looking extremely likely to hold onto it – according to CNN.

To gain a majority the Republicans need to get to 218. They currently need 60 more seats to gain that.

The Democrats have fallen behind in the race and still need over 100 seats to gain a majority.

In the House of Representatives candidates are elected to a two-year term, carrying out many duties for their districts.

Before tonight, the House had 247 Republican seats and 188 Democratic seats.

With Donald Trump now the favourite to take The White House, a Republican House will really help him to get his ideas into action.
