USA VOTES 2016

The latest news & results from the 2016 US election campaign

Swing State: Will Clinton have the last say in Virginia?

With 13 electoral college votes, Virginia is seen to be one of the key swing states. Virginia closes their votes at 19:00 PM Eastern Time and will therefore be one of the first states to post their votes.

Historically, Virginia mainly voted for Republican parties. Yet in recent years the state has been turned blue with it support for the Democrats. Both the 2008 and 2012 elections has shown Virginia’s overall support for Democrats and according to the RealClearPolitics polling data, Clinton has an average +5.3 lead ahead of Trump.

Virginia has also voted for the winning candidate within the last four elections. While other swing states such as Florida and Ohio have a more accurate reputation of voting for the winning candidate, Virginia could still be one to look at.
